It’s July 1 and that means we’re halfway through the calendar year. Which, in turn, means it’s time to look back on the first half of 2026 and see what our top films were. We also know our opinions will change by the time the Music City Film Critics’ Association awards voting comes around in December. So we thought it’d be cool to track the progress of the film year by establishing a base here at the midway point. But, instead of publishing just a boring rundown of our individual Top 10 lists, we’re going the extra mile for you!

As much as we’re individuals that have our own opinions, we’re a collective. So why not give you our Top 10 as a collective?

To do this, Jim, Bradford and Gover all supplied their secret Top 10 ballots. A first place vote was assigned 10 points, second place nine points and so on all the way down until a 10th place vote was assigned a single point. If two movies ended up with the same value, the tie breaker went to the film receiving the highest ranked vote on any of the ballots.

After watching approximately 165 movies in the first six months of the year, here are our Top 10 of 2026 (so far), in reverse order.

10. Pressure
9. The Sheep Detectives
8. The Furious
7. Obsession
6. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die
5. Hoppers
4. Toy Story 5
3. Tuner
2. Crime 101
1. Project Hail Mary
