Taylor Swift has an early gift to fans and theaters. It’s safe to say millions of fans didn’t win the lottery (literally) to get tickets to Swift’s ERAs Tour this summer. Or they didn’t win the lottery money needed to buy tickets at secondary seller prices. So, on August 30, we got some major Taylor Swift news: her concert film from The Eras Tour is hitting theaters! Here’s some proof that the demand was still there. AMC Theaters saw this coming and made sure their ticketing system could handle the rush. Turns out, they were spot on because Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour just broke AMC’s records.

AMC spilled the tea in a press release. Taylor’s film smashed the record for “ticket sales for a single title on one day at AMC.” It raked in a whopping $26 million in ticket sales, leaving the previous record-holder, Spider-Man: No Way Home, in the dust with its $16.9 million in 2011. But wait, there’s more! Swift’s film also blitzed through another record by becoming the highest-grossing film in terms of first-day, 24-hour ticket sales revenue at AMC – and it did it in just three hours! Spider-Man: No Way Home had to give up that record too.

The film is such a big hit that AMC is making some changes to make sure everyone gets a chance to see it. They’re adding extra showtimes to squeeze in more fans. Starting from Thursdays and running through Sundays, every AMC theater in the United States will offer at least four showtimes per day for the film. The run time is listed as 2 hrs 45 minutes. AMC is plugging giveaways of mini-posters and teases collectible drink cups and Taylor-themed popcorn buckets. Buy AMC advanced tickets here.

This is a gift to those who couldn’t see the concert, those who want to relive it (I do). And to theaters who usually have a big lull in sales in October.

Regal, Atom and Fandango are also selling tickets presale. We don’t have the Regal info, but Fandango dropped a press release saying that Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film broke their record for the best first-day ticket sales in 2023. It even secured a spot among the top ten all-time best first-day pre-sellers on the platform. Taylor Swift is definitely shaking it off at the box office!
